On April 20 and April 27, the National Association of College Stores published articles about the events at Virginia Tech in their weekly electronic bulletin. The Association suggested that college stores express their unity with Virginia Tech Services, Inc. by sending an item such as a sweatshirt with their school name and logo.

Following the NACS articles, the employees of Virginia Tech Services, Inc. received dozens of school items from far and wide along with condolence cards.   Employees of Virginia Tech Services, Inc. are scattered among six locations across campus and in town, so the Employee Appreciation event was planned in part to allow the display these generous gifts for all employees to see. Most of the gifts were garments, and they were arrayed on a wall in the banquet room on a space approximately 75 feet wide by 12 feet high.  Gifts other than garments were displayed on a table by the podium.

Virginia Tech Services, Inc. and its employees deeply appreciate all of those who kindly sent their condolences and gifts. Their friendship has been the greatest gift to us in this sad time.
